Bryan, K., 1988: Efficient methods for finding the equilibrium climate of coupled ocean-atmosphere models. In Physically-based Modelling and Simulation of Climate and Climatic Change, Pt. I, Dordrecht, Holland: Kluwer Academic Publishers, 567-582.

Abstract: Climate involves the interaction of the atmosphere, hydrosphere, and cryosphere, with an extremely wide range of significant time scales. Straightforward numerical integration of the time-dependent equations of a climate model is not a practical way to find equilibrium solutions of a more complete climate model. Methods that have been found useful for finding climate equilibrium in low-resolution coupled atmosphere-ocean models are described.
