| The course covers the foundations of modern research into the motion of the atmosphere and ocean. Connections are established between theoretical models of rotating fluids and applied problems such as numerical weather prediction and climate modeling. The student thus develops not only a facility with the basic mathematical approaches to geophysical fluid dynamics but also a physical intuition about weather, climate and ocean circulation. |
